Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson finally surfaces after over a year in hiding.
Philippine National Police spokesman, Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz confirmed that Lacson arrived in Cebu City from Hong Kong Saturday noon.
Cruz said Lacson arrived 11:42 am via a Cathay Pacific Flight from Hong Kong.
Lacson was fetched by a certain Mr. Almeda of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation, said Cruz.
Cruz said Lacson is no longer considered a fugitive.
The Court of Appeals recently lifted the arrest warrant against Lacson, who was accused of masterminding the murders of PR man Bubby Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.
Lacson has repeatedly denied the accusations.
“Sa ngayon, we’re only monitoring his movements and we will give him area security,” Cruz told Yahoo! Southeast Asia in a phone interview.
In a separate statement, Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said they welcome Lacson’s return.
“We welcome the return of Senator Ping Lacson so that he can put closure to the accusations hurled against him,” Lacierda said.
